We are huge fans of the work of Hideo Kojima! The news released so far about his upcoming game Death Stranding got us so excited, we decided to build our own mechanical arm. Using Snapchat’s Lens Studio, we combined multiple layers of segmentation as well as animations you can control by changing your facial expressions. Now you too can enter the world of Death Stranding!
We worked with Metastage, the Microsoft-powered volumetric capture studio in Culver City, Los Angeles, to experiment with bringing high-resolution volumetric captures into Snapchat. This is an unreleased experiment, but it shows the power of real human characters being visible as a filter, anywhere in the world. More experiments are ongoing.
The Cannes Festival AR App, the first-ever AR app to enhance what was already a thrilling event. Fueled by Unity 3D, Apple’s ARKit and Google’s AR Core, festival-goers were able to follow along with the schedule of events, select a seminar or point of interest, and seamlessly be guided to where they wanted to go through a custom pathfinder. The app also included nine unique AR experiences : immersive portals, AR photo filters and mini-games. Festival guests were able to party on a yacht in true Cannes style, or rev the engine of a vintage Bond car, all to explore the history of fashion in Cannes.
Soon on iOS and Android
We are working with our friends Roll Studio and 6D.ai on an Augmented Reality app featuring the characters of Hieronimus Bosch, the 15th century painter. His beautiful, surreal and often terrifying characters were full of symbology and meaning. We are bringing some of those characters to your work, allowing you to explore them up close, and place them inside of your home of office. The app supports occlusion and is powered by cloud depth maps. Future functionality will expand the apps features to include wayfinding.
